Data Walks

Task
Form groups of 3–4 students.
Together, create a dataset about objects or phenomena in the room, building, campus, Zollverein, or city of Essen.

Data collection may be done using:

• Notes (pen & paper)
• Photos (phone)
• Counting/measuring (apps, sensors, Arduino)
• or any other method you develop.

Deliverable
Next week, each group will briefly present their collected data and process.

Guiding Questions

• What do you record?
• How do you record it?
• Which method/taxonomy do you use?
• What problems arise in recording?
• How do you present your recordings?
