Networks are everywhere. They traverse biological, social and technological systems and are both a means of artistic expression and an investigative method. As an abstract structure, they consist of just two elements: Dots and lines. But these simple building blocks can be used to model entire worlds. Networks help us to understand complexity, decipher connections and open up new perspectives.
But networks are not just tools of knowledge - they are formed by design. How are they constructed and made visible? What narratives are formed through their existence? And what responsibility does design bear when it makes the invisible visible?
In this seminar, we will explore networks as a design practice - from the basics of network thinking to our own artistic exploration. The formats are open: whether hand-drawn, as a film, large-format print, book or interactive visualization. The aim is not only to analyze networks, but to make them tangible through design.
